Yes on 1A

By voting Yes on Proposition 1A, we can take a strong step in reforming the budget process so that we don’t have to keep facing the budget disasters that plague our state again and again. It gets us off the budget roller coaster and ensures California doesn’t ever again suffer the kind of severe budget crisis we weathered this year.

Proposition 1A protects us from future deficits by putting more money into California’s “rainy-day” budget stabilization fund. It stops government overspending and requires us to save money during good years so we have money during bad years—like this one. It protects Californians from tax hikes and deep cuts. And it provides funding stability for key services like healthcare, education and firefighting.

We’re all frustrated by California’s broken budget system. Year after year, politicians deliver late budgets that harm our schools, healthcare system, police and fire services and more. The perpetual budget problems also hurt taxpayers as we see our taxes raised or services cut because of the legislature’s failure to budget responsibly.
