VOTE 'YES' ON MEASURE V - Keeping Stockton Safe
MEASURE V is an ordinance that would modernize our current Utility User Tax to accomodate changes in new technologies. While technology has changed in the past 20 years - our policy of what is covered and what is not hasn't kept up with the times. It's time we updated our city ordinance.
MEASURE V is NOT a new tax. It simply revises what technologies didnt exist years ago when the policy was developed.
MEASURE V will ensure that funds going into the general fund stay at their current level. During these difficult financial times, the city budget is strained and can result in cuts to law enforcement, anti-gang efforts, youth programs, and blight and graffiti removal projects that keep Stockton safe. Our familes can't afford to take the risk of losing these valuable revenues.
