CalProps Analysis: Prop 3

CalProps Analysis: Prop 2

Proposition 2, or the Standards for Confining Farm Animals Act, would create a new state statute that prohibits the confinement of farm animals in a manner that does not allow them to turn around freely, lie down, stand up, and fully extend their limbs. This would include bans on cages for egg-laying poultry, and restrictive crates for sows and veal calves. The measure would impose misdemeanor penalties and potential jail time for violators of the new codes.

CalProps Analysis: Prop 1A

You know a measure was written by a politician when it’s titled the “Safe, Reliable High-Speed Passenger Train Bond Act for the 21st Century.” Indeed, this measure is the product of former State Senator Jim Costa, and was actually orginally signed by then-Governor Gray Davis. Clearly, the vote on this issue has been a long time coming. Originally scheduled to appear on the November 2004 ballot, it has in fact been delayed 4 times.
