The Real Problem with Our State of California !!!- Illegal Immigration
Dear Governer .
Im writing to you this letter as not only a concerned Californian but as as concerned US Citizen. Recently you signed a bill laying off so many People from the department of Motor vehicles. This is a huge mistake on your part, this is not the problem and is causing the State of California to go into Bankruptcy I live in the Downtown Los Angeles area with so many Illegal Immigrant type people. I shop at Food 4 Less and if you saw what I see you would open your eyes also. The problem is the State and the federal government giving welfare to so many people who donot need. I see people on welfare and receiving Food stamps with High Definitions Tv, LCD, so many of these people have Vehicles without Insurance or proper registration.
I have talked to so many of them and they told me they tell the welfare dept that they are single that their husbands are no longer living with them to support them but that is not the case their husbands are living with them and working in Garment factories.
I have seen people living at a local residential hotel on Westlake Ave collecting welfare/Disability and they are able to work. These people are using the Society and causing our state to go under.
When you go to the Food 4 Less they only buy name brand items usually spend $169.00 to 4300.00 in grocies. When they have $500.00 in cash in their Purse. The problem is Wefare and Disability, If you investigate these people you will take care of 2 major problem.
1. Illegal Immigration
2. Welfare/Disability fraud
3. Drug Dealing

Dear Governer. Im a California Native and it sickens me to see our State with No Money. But as I Live in a Apartment Builing in the Downtown Los Angeles area I see why the State is out of Money. Illegal Immigration is costing our state plenty. These people our taking advantage of Public assistance and our utility service. The Apartment Building where i live has illegal Immigrants inside I used to manage the Property for the Owner but due to some shady business pratices i chose not to manage this property. Well these people donot have social Security or Id but are able to open Utility service, And what are utility service is doing is charging them a 400.00 deposit to overlook the Social Security #, But this deposit is not paid right away its added to their bill and teh Illegal Tenants use their utility service to the max and it gets shut off. ( With no Social Security no way to go after the debt and the utility service is forced to raise everyone elses services.
Another fraud that is happening is with welfare, A women goes down to apply for welfare and tells them she lives alone and needs the max amount to support her and her children. 2 cases are Florencia Bernol and Mayra Mejia which both are Illegal Immigrants. Also these people are misusing are healthcare system. If we continue to give these people free healthcare or Low Cost healthcare then it raises everything up for us Americans. Medi Cal, Medi Care and Insurance Companies has so many uncollected medical Bills Because thse Illegal Immigrants dont Pay. also that is why the Emergency rooms were having trouble in the past. These people come to out state , Our Country and abuse our services. and know we are paying for it. Look at the Highways most of the cars on are road are driven by Illegal Immigrants. No Insurance,No Drivers License No Registration. that is increasing the cost of our insurance to go through the roof. And these Illegal Immigrant people dont care about our state they think we are stupid because we are favoring their crimes, I know i live near them and hrear their speakings about us.
What would help our State , Not laying off teachers, Or laying off DMV Workers. but to open our eyes at the real issues. Illegal Immigration is the real Problem with our State.
Investigate Welfare,Disiability Cases,
Crime rate is only high in a Illegal Immigrant Area
If the State does nothing regarding Illegal Immigration then the state will not ever be fix. More money will be lost, The Economy will be weak . . As a former Republican Party I see that we need to Do something because if we dont the Republican party is failing. If the republican party can fix california then we can save our Party as well as our State.
Illegal Immigration is the result for everything going down, Foreclosure- Bad Loans given the banks cannot collect from these people due to No Social security, Utility service oppened with no social Security. They take the bill up to 1000.00 or even 700.00 who pays for this amount !!! WE DO

Dear Mr. Lightsey,
I'm sorry to hear you have come across bad seeds among the immigrant bunch; but let me assure you not all of us immigrants are like that. Although I came here and live here legally, I have met many illegal immigrants who do not fit the profile you describe; and let's be honest, you don't exactly live in a nice area thus you can expect to see more low-life people.
But I will agree with you on something, and that is that there is abuse of welfare and other benefits. But I don't see this as an immigration problem, I see this as a general problem. I've seen white people, asians, african-american, and yes, hispanics who abuse the system and I see this as the biggest problem in California.
As you mentioned, you just need to go to the market and you'll see people abusing the system and we need to change that. First of all, I think most of us would rather have our tax money going to people getting paid to work as investigators for all this claims rather than hand this money to lazy people... I think even if we ended up paying more, I would much rather pay more for working people than just hand off my money to lazy people.
And it's not only about investigating the scams, it's also about revising what is given to these people even if they DO qualify. For instance, why are we giving these people like 20 boxes of cereal, we all know they don't eat that much cereal and they end up selling it or exchanging it for things such as alcohol and tobacco. We should also provide cheap cereal, why are we giving them cereal of expensive brands? If we save 1 cent per cereal box and you give cereal to 1 million people we just saved $10,000. These are just simple examples, we know it goes much deeper than that.
As for your concern of illegals grabbing too much state money, there are options to get money back but unfortunately there's a lot of people that would oppose certain reforms for fear that it will make immigrants life easier. For instance, if we were to give driver license to immigrants there would be a lot of benefits:
- Let's assume you charge them $40 dollars to get the license, if you have 1 million immigrants that would be 40 millions instantly.
- Then you could have a $20 dollar yearly fee, that would be 20 millions every year.
- You would have less hit and run cases.
- They would now be able to get car insurance so more money would flow into that sector.
Now, some people were concerned this would make it easier for them, so one solution would be to mark those licenses the same way that licenses for under 18 drivers are; that way this ID would be solely for driving and nothing more. I also remembered hearing people say it would make it easier for terrorist but that is false, if we were to do this we would have at least a picture and a fingerprint to match, currently we have nothing... besides, it's not like Osama would go and get a driver license; and also, if the secret service is basing their information on DMV records then I think we have a major concern with or without licenses for immigrants.
Well, I guess that's enough rambling. I hope I managed to make a point that the problem is with the way California does business with regards to benefits independently of the immigration issue. People abuse it because the government does not enforce it. Just to make it clear, let me tell everyone I'm not trying to persuade anyone to be pro-immigration; but I think putting the blame on immigration is overlooking the real problem at hand. Yes, the problems would be alleviated with less immigration, but it would not be solved until we change the way Sacramento spends our money.
As a side note, another issue that is worth pointing out is the problem with frivolous lawsuits. The reason medical services are so expensive are because of these lawsuits. The same goes for lawsuits because people fell outside your house for example, these people should be told to watch where they are going next time and dismiss their cases.
